Welcome to the Beverly Lewis Foundation!
The Beverly Lewis Foundation is a nonprofit agency that was founded in December 2006 to provide mentoring programs for youth and grandparents living in rural areas of the United States. The program will form partnerships with local school districts and the community to better understand the needs of those they will help. The Beverly Lewis Foundation's goal is to foster a commitment to young people that will promote pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and reassert a sense of hope in the future. Only through personal relationships can a sense of individual responsibility be reestablished that will give youth and their grandparents the commitment to follow through on path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Through repeated failures in the classroom and the development of destructive habits, at-risk young people have lost faith in the possibilities that await them if they are successful in putting their lives together. To accomplish this goal, young people must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect. The Beverly Lewis Foundation is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of young people that are either falling through the cracks at school or have been left behind to be cared for by their grandparents.
The goal of the program is to identify youth who are going to have a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; empower the young person to make positive changes in his/her life. The Beverly Lewis Foundation's main purpose will be to create ongoing awareness and assistance programs for the direct benefit of youth and grandparents. The Beverly Lewis Foundation will go into the community and talk with kids and adults that want to see a positive change in the community, and in their lives.
Our mission is to raise money within our circle of friends to build computer labs, sports facilities, and training centers where children in rural areas will be able to continue to learn and enhance their skills and knowledge after the school doors close. Create drug rehabilitation program to reduce the many problems that affect our youth lives because of drug use. The Beverly Lewis Foundation will also assist grandparents with the tools needed in today's society who have been left with the responsibility of raising their grandchildren.
The Beverly Lewis Foundation is being established to create ongoing awareness and assistance programs for the direct benefit of youth and grandparents. Along with the community, The Beverly Lewis Foundation will create a positive change. The Foundation will act as a vehicle for the many volunteer resources and funding capabilities available from The Beverly Lewis Foundation circle of friends, and volunteers.
